Zones
A zone is a numeric id that you write onto tiles. The server reads the zone registry (name and id) and each tile’s id.
The Zones palette
Section titled “The Zones palette”The palette’s Zones tab has two parts:
- Custom zones: the project’s registry, for painting.
- Tile zones: the tile’s own flags: Protection zone, No PvP, No logout and PvP zone.
Creating, renaming and deleting
Section titled “Creating, renaming and deleting”At the top of the Zones tab:
- Create: type the name in New zone and click Create. Orbiz uses the lowest free id, from 1 to 65535, and activates the new zone’s brush right away.
- Rename: with a zone chosen, edit the name and click Rename.
- Go to: takes you to the zone’s first loaded tile. If none of its tiles is loaded, it uses the waypoint with the same name; without one, the panel warns you.
- Delete zone: asks for confirmation (“Remove from tiles?”) and removes the zone from the registry and its id from the tiles already loaded. Tiles in areas not yet loaded keep the id.
Names are case-insensitive, and “default” is reserved.
Every action is an undo step.
Painting
Section titled “Painting”Pick the zone in the list and use the Brush (B) or the Zones tool (Z). The brush has a size and shape, only paints on tiles with ground, and Alt removes the zone. Shift+drag paints a rectangle. See Brush and palette.
A tile can have more than one zone.
Viewing
Section titled “Viewing”The Zones layer in the View menu colors the tiles; each id gets its own color. With tooltips on, a label shows the zone’s name and id. The status bar and the inspector also show the tile’s zones, and the tree lists the registry in the Zones section.
