Search

The Search tab in the left panel (Ctrl+F) scans the map and lists the results. Quick search (Ctrl+K) is a different thing: it takes you to a town, house, zone, waypoint, position or command. Type part of a zone’s name (or its number): when you pick it, the editor opens the Search tab with the zone already set and lists its tiles on the map.

A single field understands several kinds of search:

Type Finds
2160 The item with id 2160
gold coin Items by name, with suggestions and sprite. Arrows choose and Enter confirms
aid:1000 Items with Action ID 1000. With no value (aid:), any Action ID
uid:5000 Items with Unique ID 5000. With no value, any Unique ID
texto:chave Items with that written text (texto: is the Portuguese prefix for text). With no value, any text
zona:3 Tiles in zone 3 (zona: is the prefix for zone). With no value, any zone
A place name Towns, houses, waypoints and respawns by monster or NPC name

An id and a prefix with a value run on their own shortly after the last keystroke. A prefix with no value runs on Enter. An invalid value shows a warning.

The chips search for what has no value to type:

Chip What it finds
Everything Items with an action ID, unique ID, text or container
Containers Chests, bags, boxes
Writable Items that hold text, such as signs and books
Corpses Creature and player corpses
Duplicates The same item repeated on the tile (the extra copies)
Wall on wall A wall or door stacked on another one
Diagnostics Nonexistent id, broken teleport, repeated unique ID

The scope picker has Selection, Current floor and Whole map. With an area marked by M, the scope switches to the selection by itself. Changing the scope reruns the search without retyping, and the panel says what is in effect.

Results appear while the map is scanned, with progress and Cancel. The list groups by item, by region or by type, and uses virtual scrolling.

  • Enter on the list, or a click, centers the map on the result.
  • F3 and Shift+F3, or Alt+↓ and Alt+↑, go to the next and previous from anywhere. On a Mac, F3 needs Fn; use Alt+arrows.
  • In the list, the arrows, PgUp, PgDn, Home and End navigate.
  • Select all sets the result tiles as the M area.
  • Remove these and Replace with… act on the results, once the scan finishes. See Cleanup and replace.
  • After you edit the map, the panel warns that the result is stale and offers Redo search.
  • With no results, the panel says why and offers to search the whole map.

Search by id also finds items inside containers: the result points to the container and shows “inside container N”. Action id, unique id, text and duplicates do not look inside containers.

The map statistics (F8) count what is in the current scope.
