Copy and paste
Orbiz copies in two ways: an area of tiles with Area selection (M) and a single object with the Select object tool (V). The copy lives in the tab’s memory; you cannot paste from one tab into another.
Area (M)
Section titled “Area (M)”Mark the area and use:
- Ctrl+C or Copy in the Selection panel.
- Ctrl+X or Cut.
- Ctrl+V or Paste.
When pasting, a ghost of the area follows the cursor. A click drops it and Esc cancels. A right click during the paste also cancels.
How pasting works:
- The northwest corner of the area sits at the cursor. The floors of the copy stay relative.
- A tile with ground replaces the destination tile. A tile without ground adds its items to the destination.
- The copy does not carry the house, the protection zone or the door number. The paste inherits the destination’s house.
- A respawn whose center is in the area comes along whole. A loose creature joins the respawn that covers it.
- With automatic borders on, only the ring around the paste is borderized.
- Cut erases the whole tile, ground included.
- Each paste is one undo step.
With a coordinate on the system clipboard, Ctrl+V without a map copy takes the map to it. See Navigating.
Object (V)
Section titled “Object (V)”With an item, creature or respawn selected by V, Ctrl+C copies it and Ctrl+V enters paste mode. A click chooses the destination and Esc cancels.
| Object | Where it pastes |
|---|---|
| Respawn | The clicked tile becomes the center. If a respawn already exists at that center, the paste is refused |
| Creature | Joins the respawn of the same type that covers the tile. If none covers it, the paste is refused |
| Item | Goes onto the tile’s stack |
Each paste is one undo step.
Pasting from a file
Section titled “Pasting from a file”In a project, Paste from file… in the Maps panel pastes an area saved as OTBM in Remere’s or Nexa, in the project’s version. See Projects and layers.
