FAQ

No. Orbiz runs in the browser. Chrome and Edge remember the access to the server and client folders and can write published files straight into the folder. In Safari and Firefox the browser asks for the folder again every session, and publishing comes out as a zip.

Your role in the project is Viewer or Commenter. Only the Editor and the Owner change the map. Ask the Owner to change your role in Share. See Projects and layers.

Orbiz does not send invitation emails yet. In Share, copy the pending invitation’s link and send it yourself. The person has to sign in with the invited email. See Collaboration.

I published and nothing changed on the game server.

Section titled “I published and nothing changed on the game server.”

With no destination configured, publishing only generates the files: download the zip and extract it at the root of the server folder, or write to the folder from the editor (Chrome and Edge). With an SFTP destination, Orbiz sends the files that changed. See Publishing the map.

I edited a tile and the change does not show up in the game.

Section titled “I edited a tile and the change does not show up in the game.”

A top layer replaces the whole tile of the layers below. If a layer loaded by the server covers the tile, the edit made underneath stays hidden. Turn on all the layers to check. See Projects and layers.

The server ignores custom maps whose name starts with #. Orbiz imports them turned off and does not accept one as the destination for new tiles.

The undo stack lasts for a session. Reloading the page clears it, but the edits already uploaded stay in the project. See Undo and redo.

I lost my connection in the middle of editing.

Section titled “I lost my connection in the middle of editing.”

Edits wait in a queue in the browser and go up when the connection returns. The footer of the left panel shows Synced, Sending, Reconnecting or Offline. Do not close the tab while there are edits in the queue.

Can I roll the map back to an old version?

Section titled “Can I roll the map back to an old version?”

No. Versions are for checking and comparing what each publication changed. Orbiz keeps the 3 most recent. See Collaboration.

I deleted a zone and some tiles still have its id.

Section titled “I deleted a zone and some tiles still have its id.”

Deleting the zone only clears the id from the tiles already loaded in the editor. See Zones.

How do I find all empty respawns or duplicate items?

Section titled “How do I find all empty respawns or duplicate items?”

With Cleanup or with the Search chips.

Yes, with Cmd in place of Ctrl and Option in place of Alt. See Shortcuts.
